Specify diameter, pitch, male/female form and usable engagement.
Pivot interface
Record ball diameter, bore diameter or clevis pin size and width.
Mounting reference
Include center-to-shoulder length, hole spacing and bracket offset.
Orientation & clearance
Check both ends and surrounding movement space throughout travel.

Match the full connection, including the retained parts.

Joint movement and compatibility checks
Closed / middle / open
Check articulation at all three positions, including clearance around the socket, pin and neighboring parts.
No forced alignment
A joint should not force the rod sideways or use the gas spring to correct bracket misalignment.
Retention and load
Identify the required pins and clips explicitly. A stronger gas spring does not establish that an existing bracket has adequate capacity.
